nightfall

∴ discovering flowers
within verses
tracing their petals
along alluring contours

my waking dream—
one blossom overtakes
eluding all measure
enchantment aloft
sweet sepals beckoning

summer day wanes
once bright-eyes blink
innocence’s vision slowly fades
nodding, surrendering to slumber

nightfall, brings me to life
among lush saxifrage and arnica
savoring the intoxication
of wildflower nectar
reveling in nature’s games

feral wolf, a flame
of spirits barely kept at bay
yet promise—
these canines of mine
can be gentle and kind

shall we play? ∴1

crush

∴ we be wolves, once in our youthful springtide |
venturing where mickle spirits feared to tread |
we, with nay pledge of coin
pursued vile beasts who wrought foul deeds |
casting their iron-venom hexes upon this ground |
our flick’ring shadows hardly e’er heeded |
Wolfmother’s warnings, crushing our fears |

what needs have we-creatures for treasure |
mayhap, shortsighted simpletons, we be
instead taking our trove
in the hæle, in the venturing, in the fantastic |
·
ere the moon arose Tiwesdæg last
as the four pillars awakened
we resolved to embark on a quest
as naught could halt us beyond the reasonable |
for even when we doubted, we pressed forth |
older and in some measure more sagacious |
(yea, jest if thou wilt, as we jest along with thee) |

nights of running ’neath the speckled forest moon |
lofty peaks piercing clouded sky
enveloped by the wild frenzy of nature’s lifeblood |
bestowed upon us by Wolfmother

we, who remain, dig pro tempore dens
ere these alabaster charms doth rest
and then begin anew on the morrow

thou hast transitioned through the ethereal brink |
into the myst’ry of thy endmost journey
we offer your echo our humble gramercy
we bid thee our lugubrious howls of farewell ∴
