beneath pink moon’s majesty
in the radiance of her soft silvered light
phlox in blushing bloom
brushes against muzzle and paw
with each breath’s stir
from soul’s marrow deep
a starward call
this voice a wild torrent
of mirrored echoes
reverberating into the night
my primal howl

Earth Day 2024 / folklore
∴
rise as tree-tall stewards
guardians of Earth heed her plea
protect and restore
lest her beauty
and we too
fade into folklore
in harmony, unite as one

in whispers
trees hold secrets
lock in key
Mother Nature’s ingenuity
wilds softly set free

lush
∴
Lured by the promise of treasures,
the rat’s eyes shine bright
Unveiling secrets,
hidden in midnightfall’s cover
Seeking fortune of adventure,
heart racing in anticipation
Happiness not found in gold or greed,
but in the thrills on the path

- The Acrostic Challenge word of the day was “lush” and the Very Short Story prompt was “greed”. This is meant as a narrative continuation, of sorts, from yesterday’s acrostic “knife” poem. ↩︎
spiritual reflections
∴
in the forge of existence
i hone my teeth
each trial a grindstone for my resolve
with decisive vigor
i extend my claws rendering obstacles
as lightning cleaves the sky
amid the tumult, i unearth lush serenity
for it dwells within, wherever i tread
guided by unyielding will
roaring with thunderous determination
in every step impermanence i see
a constant revelation

- A no-prompt poem, just my reflections on rereading some of the Diamond Sutra and The Unfettered Mind last night while a storm cell rolled through. ↩︎
