act

in the amber glow of autumn’s stage,

each falling leaf, a fleeting act,

a drama of russet hues,

their final performance,

a quiet surrender to the earth

sycophant

beneath the trees, a sycophant’s quest,

obsequiously praising the manor lord while longing to be the best,

now chases leaves, at the lord’s behest

·

yet

·

in his yard, where colors dance and spin,

exhausted, defeated, autumn claims this win

venomous

with venomous mirth in wooded haze
·
beware the malevolent joy in the creature’s gaze,
in shadows, it ensnares, with souls it plays

language

crisp words flutter through rustling leaves,

the giants of the wood gracefully bow,

listening to the language of red and gold

tranquil

in the stillness beneath tranquil skies, a state to contemplate

where shadows of the void and waking minds conflate

whispering voices weave new tales, gently nudging fate

i stepped outside my door, embraced by spacetime’s spate
