∴ under mist-hail breath
betwixt unraveling sky
rovers we, resting our ache
sit and watch with cups brimmed
drinker’s mash
with notes of shadowed spirals
remedy of fractured amber
borne on drips of pine and wisened laughter |
its golden glow scatters in the restless air |
soft tangles of warmth eddy
spirits fill our bellies
on again roaming through
untethered paths of light
towards new horizons
snarls of storms brushing
the edges of our flight ∴
∴ beneath my cerulean caul
fractured luminance wavers—
specters tessellate on the verge |
of a precipice heavy
with releasing certitude ∴
∴ lobsters roaring
split the sea
waves forgot their names ∴
∴
silver rungs fade as i climb
through clouds, breath held tight—
a kiss for the moon awaits
reaching upward, losing line
falling gently through the sublime
and tomorrow, i rise once more
∴
∴ hypnotic susurration
her lithe words enthrall my senses
languor takes me whole ∴
∴ no school today
dawn’s defiance
a radical rebellion
just past oatmeal
pre-bus ride
to the threshold
we go
all clothes discarded
in revolt
craving freedom
no school today
no confines
no curriculum
no teachers
grasping bare truth
she stood firm
a bold proclamation
yearning for the refuge
of her own pages.
with a nod
and a wry grin
unadorned
my little rebel child
slipped
into the cocoon of her blankets
nestled with a tome
no school today ∴
