schemish plots crack, lurch, and snap
idle, we wont wait
dashliously we strike back
through shifting barrows, we rise ∴

∴ resist her hunger—
his folly, the rabbit hole
tumbling, naive
her grasp—always there, waiting
lost as the prey of her lure ∴

∴ stoned on bulwarks high
dolent champions fray frost
wind fresh oblations
patched renewals rasp alert

i see you, as rain

∴ winter’s gift bestowed,
lips taste sweet, ripe nectar’s flow,
muskmelon’s delight,
nature’s frost, a fleeting kiss,
season’s essence on my tongue ∴

∴

old growth groves stand strong,

defiant ‘gainst dark’s cruel grasp,

traumatizing hold
